Oldest Operating Inn IN Ohio

The Buxton Inn in Granville, Ohio is supposedly haunted. My sister went with her friends to stay the night there once to try and spot the ghost. My cousin used to work in the restaurant and said he often heard someone walking down the stairs when no one else was there. Despite this supposed haunted designation, the inn has another one: the oldest operating inn in the state of Ohio.

The Buxton Inn has been opened since the year 1812 and is still open to this day. It functions as both an inn and a restaurant. For two years, the inn has been up for sale and, as of this month, it has been purchased for a whopping $1.9 million!

In the beginning of its life, the inn was also a post office for the local area. It is rumored to have housed famous guests over the years, such as William Henry Harrison, Abraham Lincoln, William McKinley, Henry Ford and Harriet Beecher Stowe. More recently, they boast of guests such as Yo-Yo Ma, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Garner.

The new owner of the building intends on renovating the 25 rooms and keeping the inn in business.
